AWMA Sends Letter to FDA Urging Sell Through for New Warning Labels
AWMA sent a letter to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) urging that agency to make the same accommodations for distributors and retailers under the new proposed rule on warning labels that they made when they implemented the ban on descriptors. FDA recently issued a proposed rule on the new graphic health warnings for cigarettes. In response, AWMA filed comments requesting the agency to consider an unlimited sell-through period for any inventory of cigarettes that do not contain the new warning labels. AWMA made a similar request – which was granted by the agency – for the sale of inventory after the ban on descriptors was implemented. The new warning labels are scheduled to go into effect on June 22nd of this year.
