AWMA to Submit Comments on FDA’s Proposed Rule Relating to Non-Face-To-Face Sale & Distribution of Tobacco Products
AWMA is in the process of drafting comments that will be submitted to FDA as part of the agency’s advance notice of proposed rulemaking on the non-face-to-face sale and distribution of tobacco products. Specifically, under the new tobacco law, the agency is required to issue regulations by April 1, 2012 to address the promotion and marketing of tobacco products that are sold or distributed through a non-face-to-face exchange in order to keep these products out of the hands of minors.
The agency has determined that additional information is needed on non-face-to-face sale and distribution practices for tobacco products in light of the enactment of the PACT Act. AWMA will be submitting comments with the agency that outline our support for efforts to combat illegal sales of tobacco products but also highlight some of our concerns with respect to the implementation of the recently enacted PACT Act.
