FDA Extends Comment Period for Tobacco Law
The FDA said it is extending, to December 28, 2009, the comment period for the notice that appeared in the Federal Register of July 1, 2009, requesting comments on the implementation of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, in response to a request for an extension to allow interested persons additional time to submit comments. In affirming this request, the FDA said the extension would not interfere with its rulemaking.
While AWMA has already submitted comments on behalf of the industry, we urge members to submit their own comments with the agency expressing concern over the implementation of this new law. To that end, AWMA has talking points that may be helpful to members who wish to make their views known to agency on this important issue.
