FDA To Regulate E-Cigarettes as Tobacco Products
In a recent letter issued by Dr. Lawrence Deyton, Director of the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products, the agency makes clear its intention to regulate e-cigarettes as “tobacco products”. The purpose of the letter, according to Deyton, “is to provide stakeholders and the public with information, in light of a recent court decision, regarding the regulation of products made or derived from tobacco.” The letter goes on to stipulate the steps the FDA will be taking to “ensure the appropriate regulatory mechanisms govern all tobacco products and all other products made or derived from tobacco.” A copy of the FDA letter can be found by following this link:
