The 57th Summer Fancy Food Show brought the largest marketplace for specialty foods and beverages in North America to Washington, D.C. The show ran July 10-12, 2011, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.  According to the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT), the exhibit halls were filled with 180,000 products from 2,400 exhibitors representing 80 countries and regions. On display were the latest food trends and flavors in chocolate, artisanal meats and cheeses, confections, snacks, beverages, salsas, spices and natural and organic products.  

Several AWMA member companies exhibited at the show including Stewart Candy Co., Oskri Organics, K.C. Confectionery Ltd., Gehl Food Main St. Café and Adams & Brooks.

Some of the show highlights included the presentation of the NASFT sofi Gold Awards for the year’s outstanding specialty foods and beverages; international and state pavilions; workshops and seminars; and a major food donation to DC Central Kitchen.

The Summer Fancy Food Show moved to Washington, DC, this year from its long-time home at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York due to ongoing construction. It will be held again in Washington in 2012.
