U.S. Food & Drug Administration Launches New Web Basics Site
The FDA recently launched its new initiative – known as the “Transparency Initiative” – designed to increase public understanding as to how the agency makes decisions and operates overall. The new “FDA web basics” site includes an online presentation by the Principal Deputy FDA Commission, Josh Sharfstein, speaking about the agency and the products it regulates and talking with various agency personnel about the work of their office.
There will be other online sessions to feature senior officials from the FDA talking on various topics relating to the FDA’s operations and decision making process. According to the agency, the new “Transparency Initiative” was unveiled as part of the Obama Administration’s effort to promote more openness in Government and to make “information about the FDA more user-friendly and accessible to the public.”
