U.S. Hispanics Influence U.S. Eating Patterns
The NPD Group reports that the growth of the U.S. Hispanic population, combined with their adherence to dining traditions, is influencing national consumption patterns. One of the categories where this influence is evident is at breakfast, according to NPD’s NET® (National Eating Trends®) Hispanic. While non-Hispanics include non-toasted bread in 2% of their breakfast meals, 12% of Hispanics' breakfasts include non-toasted bread. Hot cereal has a 10 percent share of non-Hispanic breakfast meals compared to 6 percent for Hispanics. Eggs are found more often during breakfast in Hispanic homes than in non-Hispanic homes.
