After announcing two weeks ago plans to merge, one of two Hanover area snack-food companies involved in the deal decided to pull out, citing in a Wednesday news release a "protracted approval process" from the Federal Trade Commission.  Utz Quality Foods discontinued efforts to merge with Snyder's of Hanover after receiving word late last week that the first and second filing had not been cleared by the FTC, according to a joint press release from both companies.
