Wisconsin Governor Signs Low Ignition Propensity (“Fire-Safe”) Cigarette Bill
Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle earlier this month signed into law a measure requiring all cigarettes sold in the State meet low ignition propensity standards so they self-extinguish when left unattended. Wisconsin joins 22 other States which have already passed similar laws. As he signed the bill at a Wisconsin fire station, Gov. Doyle said the new law will ensure that smokers reduce the risk they pose to themselves and others, reports the Associated Press.
